There are three ways to take drum lessons.
 

The most popular option is the duo lesson—enjoying a half-hour session alongside another student.

I highly recommend this format, especially for beginners. It is an excellent way to learn; provided the other student is a good match, it is certainly on par with individual lessons. In fact, it can be highly motivating, slightly less intense, and great fun—and, in my view, it is the most cost-effective way to learn the drums during those first few years.
 

Individual lessons are the right choice for some students for a variety of reasons.
For instance, advanced drummers can focus precisely on what they want to learn or what they need for conservatory auditions. Some students simply don't care for the dynamic of a duo lesson, while others want to dive straight into intensive practice from day one.
 

There is also the option of taking lessons online.
I use an extensive setup (featuring multiple cameras) to ensure high-quality instruction. Students can see exactly what I am demonstrating—often more clearly than in a standard in-person lesson. It is also very easy to display lesson materials directly on the student's screen.
For those who find travel time a barrier, this is a fantastic way to learn the drums.
Online lessons are always conducted on a one-on-one basis.
